Mariah Carey was born on March 27, 1970 on Long Island New York. To oprea singer and vocal coach Patricia Carey and to engineer Alred Carey. Before Mariah's time they had two children. The oldest Morgan Carey a fitness trainer and Alison Carey who turned to drugs in the early years. The Carey's indured countless accidents to blowing up there cars and getting there dogs posined. The Carey's children were never good enough for the blacks nor the whites. It was very uncommon for a black Venuzala man and white Irish women to get married in thoes days. They were faces with a lot of critazisam untill it sadly ended in 1973. When Mariah was at the tender age of 3. Patricia discovered her daughters talent at a young age and began teaching her vocal lesson. She was so impressed when Mariah pick up on the que she misprounced and was touched by Mariah's talents and new she had what it took. It was once said that Patricia choose the name Mariah because it would be a good stage name. They moved around 13 times in 14 years in the area of New York. As Patricia tried to get a job Mariah was off at school. When in High School she got the name Mirge for the fact that she was never there. She began writing songs at 14. For her 16th Morgan gave her a 24 track demo for her birthday. In the same year she began recording in the Studio with Ben Marargulies.. Mariah has between a 5 to 7 octave range. In 1987 Mariah graduates from Harborfields High School on Long Island, Patricia remarries. Mariah moves to Manhattan, keeps recording, and pushing her demo tape to record companies. In 1988 Mariah auditions and lands a job singing back up for Brenda K. Starr. In November Brenda dragged Mariah to a party were she ends up meeting Tommy Mottola the head of Columbia records. He listens to it in his limousine; turns around and searchs for the unknown singer. He was to unable to find her so he contacts her the following Moday morning. In December of 1989 Mariah signs with CBS Columbia. She spends that year recording her duet album with producers Narada Michael Walden, Ric Wake and Rhett Lawrence. Using the same material she and Ben have written over the last three years.Mariah performs at and invitation-only Columbia party then at the National Association of recording Merchandisers convention in Los Angeles. "Love Take Time" is hastily recorded and added to the already completed album. In June Msriah sings "America The Beautiful" before Game one of the NBA playoffs. This followed by appearances on both The Arsenio Hall Show and The Tonight Show. June 2, 1990 "Vision Of Love" enters the Billboard Hot 100 at number 73. June 30, 1990 Mariah Carey dubuts on the Album Chart at number 80. On August 4, 1990 Vision Of Love reaches number 1. Mariah Carey starts a run of 22 weeks at the top of the album charts. On August 5, 1990 She sings at the KMEL Summer Jam in Mountain View, California. October 27, 1990 She is the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live". November 10, 1990 Love Takes Time becomes Mariah's second number 1 single. After ending 1990 with 2 number ones she enters 1991 winning two Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female , and Best New Artist at the 33rd Annual Grammy Awards on February 20, 1991. On March 7, 1991 she is named Best New Female Singer in the Rolling Stones Readers Pick Music Awards. Someday brings Mariah's string of number one singles to 3 on March 9, 1991 and 3 days later Mariah walks away with three Soul Train trophies. April 6, 1991 I Don't Wanna Cry enters the Hot 100 at number 50. The single hits number one on May 25, 1991. Back in the studio Mariah works on her second album, with David Cole, Robet Clivilles, and Walter Afanasieff. August 31, 1991 Emotions the title track and leadoff single from the new album, debuts at number 35. October 13, 1991 the single reaches number 1, making Mariah the first artist to have her first five singles go to that spot. In the beginning of a New Year Mariah releases Can't Let Go the second single from Emotions which peaks at number 2.March 16 Mariah tapes MTV's Unplugged Show. A Concert taken from her 9 city Tour. I'll Be There enters the Hot 100 at number 13, June 25,, 1992 it hits number 1. The MTV Unplugged EP enters the album chart at number 8. Mariah is involved with the writing and production with Trey Lorenz, and begins work on her next album with a number of different partners. In June 5, 1993 Mariah and Tommy marry at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, New York. After resption at the Metrpholian Clbum, they honeymooned in Hawaii. On August 15, 1993 Dreamlover is released and enters the Hot 100 charts at number 13. Music Box debuts on the album chart. November 3, 1993 Mariah starts her first U.S. Tour at Miami Arena in Florida. November 25, 1993 the Mariah Carey television special airs on NBC. The Tour ends in New York at Madsion Square Garden on December 10, 1993. Demeber 25, 1993 Hero and Music Box both reach number 1. Without You enters the Hot 100 at number 53 on January 31, 1994. On March 25, 1994 Anytime You Need A Friend enters the Hot 100 at number 45, June 25, 1994 it peaks at number 12.On November 1, 1994 Merry Christmas is released. It enters the album charts at number 30 on November 19, 1994. December 8, 1994 Mariah gives a benefit concert for the Frsh Air Fund at John the Divine in New York. Mariah Carey Christmas special airs on MTV December 14, 1994. The album peaks at number 3. 1995 was a big year for Mariah on Stember 30, 1995 the first single Fantasy is released on debuts on the Hot 100 at number 1, Daydream the album also enters the album charts at number 1 on October 21, 1995. One Sweet Day also enters the Hot 100 at number 1 were it stays for 16 weeks knocking off Celine Dion's Because You Love Me. On March 3, 1996 Mariah plays the first of four concerts at the Tokyo Dome. May 4, 1996 Always Be My Baby reaches number 1. In May-June Mariah plays several concerts in Europe and in December Mariah moves out of her Beford, New York home leaving Tommy Mottola. Mariah begans to work freely on her next album. in January of 1997 She begins recording her new album, working with Sean Puffy Combs, David Morales, Walter Affanasieff, and others. She also begans taking acting lessons. on May 30, 1997 Mariah and Tommy formally announce there separation Honey enters the Hot 100 at number 1. No other artist have had 3 sinlges debut at number 1. September the Oprah Winfrey Show the day before the release of Butterfly on September 16, 1997. On November 12, 1997 Mariah is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. In 1998 Mariah plays the first of four sold-out concerts at the Tokyo Dome on January 8, 1998. January 24, 1998 she plays Taipei Taiwan. January 31, 1998 she begins her Australian Tour and in February 21, 1998 Mariah's Asian Tour Concludes in Honolulu , Hawaii. Mach of 1998 Mariah is granted a divorce from Tommy Mottola. In 1998 she received a special award from Billboards Hot 100 Charts for having the most number one songs for a female. In 1999 Carey performed with Whitney at the Academy Awards. In 2001 She released Glitter the soundtrack to her first film that was a box office flop Later that same year Mariah was paid 28 million to end her contract with Virgin In 2002 She appeard in her second film Wise Girls with Mira Sorvino. Rumors went around that they hated each other but it ended as a false statemeant. On Febuary 4, 2002 Mariah was accompined by the Boston Pops. She sang the National Athem at the Superbowl XXXVI. Mariah overall has kept going strong and is the best selling artist in history
